🐝 Carpenter bees get their name from their ability to bore into wood. These bees are about half an inch to an inch in size and are black and yellow. Male carpenter bees do not have the ability to sting, but female carpenter bees can sting if they feel threatened.

Carpenter bees are a nuisance because they damage wood by boring holes into it. If you have carpenter bees on your property, there are a few things you can do to get rid of them.

Spray Them With Insecticide

One way to get rid of carpenter bees is to spray them with insecticide. You can find insecticide at your local hardware store. Make sure that the insecticide you purchase is specifically for carpenter bees.

To use this method, wait until the evening when the carpenter bees are less active. Then, put on some protective clothing and spray the insects with the insecticide. Be sure to spray into the holes that the carpenter bees have made as this is where they nest.

This method may take a few days or weeks to work as you will need to reapply the insecticide every few days. Eventually, the carpenter bees will die off.

Remove Their Nest

Another way to get rid of carpenter bees is to remove their nest. This can be done by taking a screwdriver or drill and putting it into the hole made by the bee. Then, twist it around so that the hole gets bigger. Once the hole is big enough, reach in and pull out the nest material. Be sure to wear gloves when doing this so that you do not get stung by a female bee. Once all of the material has been removed, put some caulk or wood filler into the hole and seal it up. This will prevent future carpenter bees from nesting in that spot again.
